Met Police boss Jimmy Cooper is hoping new boys Duran Reynolds and Tommy Kavanagh can fire the Blues to the Ryman Premier League play-offs.

Dagenham & Redbridge star Reynolds, who played for the Blues last season, returned to Imber Court on loan on Monday, the same day former Sutton United midfielder Kavanagh arrived on a permanent switch from league leaders Whitehawk.

Kavanagh made an immediate impact this week as he netted the winner in Wednesday’s 1-0 home win over Margate.

It was the Blues’ fifth win in their past six league games and sent them up to seventh in the table, with only two points between them and a place in the top five.

Cooper, who let striker Allan Tait sign for Ryman Division One South play-off chasers Leatherhead earlier this week, has strengthend his hand since Christmas and expects a return on the investment.

“They both add a little bit extra to the squad. We are in a good position just outside the play-offs and, hopefully, they can get us there,” said Cooper.

The Imber Court manager watched his side bounce back  from last week’s 4-0 defeat at Enfield Town by coming from 1-0 down to win 2-1 at Lewes on Saturday, through goals from Charlie Collins and Steve Noakes.

Much to the delight of the Blues boss.

“The pitch was pretty poor at the weekend compared with the facilities we have at Imber Court,” he added.

“In the past I’ve questioned our ability to dig out wins when the conditions do not suit us – especially away from home.

“But the boys answered that question at the weekend with a terrific performance in the circumstances and that was the most pleasing thing about it.”
