Sutton United go to Bromley tomorrow [Saturday] boasting just one defeat five Conference South outings - however, three of those games have ended all square.

The solitary reverse, at home to Hemel Hempstead last weekend, featured just three United players who played in the opening day defeat at Maidenhead as loss of form, injuries and departures have taken their toll.

Accoridng to assistant boss Micky Stephens, the debut of striker Jamie White, signed this week, is the final piece in the ever-changing jigsaw and someone will feel the backlash of United's tough start to the season.

He said: "Over the past few games, probably since the Burgess Hill defeat, we have deserved maximum points when you take into account our performances, but we're just not getting it.

"We have progressed well, we've been getting players in to cover the horrendous injuries we've had to deal with and we're moving in the right direction.

"Eventually someone is going to get a big beating, and then we can go on a run."

Meanwhile, United will begin their FA Trophy campaign at Hereford United of the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division on November 29.

The Bulls were demoted down the non-League pyramid from the Conference in June due to financial irregularities, and fans have been boycotting games until debts – believed to be around £1.3m – are repaid.

Stephens said: “Yes, they’ve had financial problems, and yes, it will probably be a three-hour coach journey.

“However, it’s the draw we’ve been handed and we need to beat them to get through to the next round.”
