Dan Fitchett and Simon Downer face up to two weeks on the sidelines after limping off during Saturday’s win at Gosport Borough.

Fitchett, who has 16 goals in National League South to his name, pulled his hamstring and will miss tonight’s trip to Wealdstone.

The striker is also out of the weekend trip to Truro City, but he could return for the visit to the Lane of Whitehawk on March 28 – although Eastbourne on April 2 is a more likely target.

Downer picked up a hip injury and boss Paul Doswell says they are treating him carefully to ensure he returns for the big clash at Maidstone United on April 5.

Doswell is still without Craig McAllister and Jamie Collins, although Shaun Cooper is back from injury.

A Sutton United Front: What a couple of fantastic goals

Doswell said: "We took Dan off early, so it is more of a tug than a pull, and it is normally about 10 days.

"With Simon, we don't want to rush him back, we want him available for Maidstone."

United face Wealdstone tonight in the first of four games in hand on leaders Ebbsfleet – who are 12 points ahead.

Doswell said: “Fundamentally, this league is in our hands – if we win our last 10 games then we’d win the title.

“Realistically we know we might slip up in two or three games, and one point dropped could be all the difference.

“That is how tight the margin is for success.”

United’s 2-0 win at Gopsort, thanks to goals from Ross Stearn and Dan Wishart, extended their unbeaten run to 16 games.

Doswell added: “Tonight is vital to keep the pressure on Ebbsfleet, but we know we could lose tonight and at the weekend and the chance is gone.

“However, we are pretty much guaranteed a play-off place, it’s just a question of where we finish.”

Sutton United have given supporters an incentive to apply now for next year’s season tickets.

Supporters who apply before April 23 can buy an adult season ticket for £99, with a further reduction to £85 for existing season ticket holders.

Meanwhile season ticket prices have been frozen for concessions (£75), teenagers (£20) and U13s (£10). After April 23, the prices will increase.
