There is a real big club feel about Sutton United at the moment with large crowds, an excellent home atmosphere, and a title challenge to boot.

Eastbourne, like Whitehawk, were intent on damaging that feeling and certainly had Gander Green Lane nervous until a Dan Wishart inspired second half turnaround.

Praise must also go to Paul Doswell and his coaching staff with the changes made at half-time completely swinging the game in our favour.

Whatever the situation in the game there always seems to be a plan to change things round, a vital quality for any management team as has been proven in the past couple of matches.

All eyes now turn to the Maidstone game tomorrow night (Tuesday) - a massive game for the two underdogs in this National League South title race.

Maidstone have not lost at home in the league in 2016, but United will surely provide a tougher test than any of the opponents they faced in that run.

It will be game of football that will deservedly be watched by a large crowd – Maidstone have averaged just under 2,000 this season and the occasion will surely draw even more in on the night.

It is no doubt a tough test, but Doswell’s men should fear no one on their current run of form.

If we want a result on Tuesday, however, they will need to play better than they did against Eastbourne, but this is something they are perfectly capable of, as their league position reflects.

With scores of the Amber Army set to travel down to Kent, let’s hope it’s an unforgettable occasion for all the right reasons
