Newly reformed Waddon Wanderers are celebrating a storming first season in the Surrey Youth League.

The 9s and U10s both won their respective divisions in record time and the club also became the first youth club to achieve the FA Charter Standard in its ffirst year of existence.

Club secretary Mick Burgess originally started Waddon Wanderers in the 1980s when he became the youngest manager to win the league.

After a lay off to become a dad, Mick restarted the club after 20 years in spring 2010.

His youngest son Ollie Burgess bagged 19 goals for the U10s this season, just one behind top scorer Kyron Rose-Green.

Mick said: “We have a fantastic group of boys at the club. They are tremendous fun to work with, a joy to coach and fully deserve their success.

“It is a great achievement to win the league, at two different age groups and in record time.”

Wanderers expect to jump two leagues into Division One next season and plan to unveil new U8 and U9 teams for the coming season.
