Dulwich Hamlet manager Gavin Rose is hoping to get through the January transfer window without losing his headline-grabbing stars.

For the past two years, Hamlet have watched their big names leave Champion Hill but Rose says the club’s ethos is different this time around.

Daniel Carr and Erhun Oztumer have scored 30 goals between them this season and are attracting interest from clubs from every level of football, including the Premier League.

Rose suffered the disappointment of losing striker Paul McCallum to West Ham United in January 2011, and then defender Michael Chambers to Crystal Palace in January 2012.

But he is hopeful his stars’ heads will not be turned as Hamlet are mounting a strong challenge for the Ryman League Division One title.

Rose said: “Losing players in nothing new to us, we’re getting used to it – but we want to do it differently this year.

“Yes, we want the players to further their careers, but not at the detriment of the club in the short term. If they can help us and we can help them, then everyone wins. That’s how we are looking at things.

“The boys at the club are really happy, they know they are developing and they know it is a good platform to improve and showcase their talents – there is no rush for them boys and they want to achieve as much as we do.”

He added: “I’d rather we keep all our players and if they get attention at the end of the season, which they are likely to do if they keep performing, then I am sure the crowd and myself would give them our blessing to go on and further their careers.”

The Oztumer and Carr partnership has exploded into life as the season progressed – culminating in scoring seven goals in the four games since Christmas.

Rose said: “We have found the correct way to play them. Erhun is an attacking midfielder who supplies plenty of opportunities to score, as well as score himself, and Daniel is an athletic front runner who has technical ability and a lot of potential.

“They do complement each other well, but it is important to remember we have four players in attacking positions with Nyren Clunis and Ellis Green – without those two we would not cause as much damage to teams as we do.

"They have been very good, as have the rest of the supporting cast in the team.”
