Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson is not afraid to dip into the transfer market again, despite seeing his side at the summit of the Ryman Premier League.

The Kingsmeadow chief overhauled his squad in the summer bringing in 13 new faces in a bid to land the title in what could be his final year at the helm.

The merry-go-round, which has seen new centre back Sam Page impress most, sees Ks top of the table even though they crashed 2-0 at Maidstone United on Saturday.

Dowson has warned his wheeler dealing may not stop there, with changes likely as soon as there is a significant downturn in form.

But for now he is more than happy with his lot.

“We’ve started well with the players we have brought in, but that could all change in seven or eight games time,” he said.

“We’ve brought in 13 new players in a squad of 17, so you’d think it would take time to settle.

“But these guys will not get off the training park. It comes to a point where I have to say come on lads, let’s turn the floodlights off.

“I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Ks saw Maidstone end the club’s historic run of six straight cleansheets at the weekend, but Dowson – who welcomes Grays Athletic to Kingsmeadow on Saturday, before Monday’s visit of Bognor Regis Town - remained philosophical.

“They were the first goals we’ve conceded this season. We were always going to concede at some stage, just as we were always going to lose a game,” he added.

“It is long season. I don’t care if we lose seven or eight games, as long as we are still top.  That is where I want to be.

“Saturday was a blip and we’ll be judged on how we bounce back and I am confident – with this group of players – that we will do that.”
