Never let it be said that managing Corinthian Casuals is bad for your health, but Kim Harris is the second consecutive manager to step down to look after himself rather than the team.

His temporary replacement is Brian Adamson – who himself stepped down from the Casuals hot-seat in 2011 to undergo a triple heart bypass, but is now fully recovered.

Sixty-year-old Harris, who has had a series of operations on his stomach, including the removal of his gall bladder last year, sees the funny side of the apparent ill-effects of managing at St George’s Field, because after 33 years in the business, nothing surprises him anymore.

And nothing will keep him and Casuals apart – despite taking the tough decision to cut ties last week, Harris watched from the stands on Saturday as his old friends beat Erith Town 3-0 in the preliminary round of the FA Cup.

Harris said: “Leaving is very hard to take, and the way I am feeling it is unlikely I shall be back in management.

“I’ve been a manager since I was 27, and it has been a great time, apart from when I was at Kingstonian and they were run into the ground by Rajesh Khosla.

“Between me and Colin Deadman, who ran the supporters club, we did a huge amount to keep Ks running and that is what I am most proud about.

“Another highlight of course is winning the Surrey Senior Cup with Corinthian Casuals in 2011.”

He added: “Managing Casuals may be bad for your health, I am sure Brian would agree, but it is infectious.

“Once you get into the ethos of having no money, it is a great spur playing the sides with big budgets, and it keeps you coming back for more.”

Adamson, who has brought in Mick Sullivan as his number two, said: “Without a doubt, being a manager of Corinthian Casuals is bad for your health.

“Kim had health problems when he was at Walton Casuals, so maybe it is to do with being a manager of any side with Casuals is in its name.”

He added: “Mick and I are here until the chairman decides what to do, but if we like what we’re doing, and he is happy, there is nothing to say we won’t stay on.”
