Whyteleafe warmed up for their big F A Cup match on Saturday with an emphatic 7-0 win at Holmesdale Southern Counties East League.

The win also puts them within a point of the league leaders Erith Town, and with a game in hand.

Not only did John Fowler's charges bang seven past their hosts, they also had three ruled out for offside.

Jason Thompson opened the scoring direct from a free-kick inside the opening two minutes, and he made it 2-0 on 18 minutes lashing home a Bentley Graham cross.

The visitors got their third not long after when another Graham cross was headed into his own net under pressure by Liam Hurrell.

The second half started with Leafe playing full of confidence, and Tommy Smith was lucky to end a fine run on goal with a strike that cannoned back off the crossbar.

However, the fourth goal followed a minute later when Ryan Fowler won the ball on the edge of the box, and curled a fine shot into the far corner of the net.

A minute later it was 5-0 when Reece Jackson’s pass sent Taylor Smith clear and he rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home.

Leafe’s sixth came after 76 minutes - Fowler picked the ball up on the half way line, ran towards goal and picked out Taylor Smith who slotted the ball home.

The seventh and final goal came in the 84th minute when Jensen Grant’s great ball found Graham, and his mazy run past two defenders and the keeper saw him walk the ball into the empty net.

Leafe will now go forward with confidence to their FA Cup second qualifying match on Saturday against Ryman Division One North outfit Chatham Town as the last remaining club from the Southern Counties East league.

Kick off at Church Road is at 3pm.
