Leatherhead boss Richard Brady is looking for a run in the FA Cup, but not at the expense of their Ryman Division One South campaign.

The Tanners go to Binfield on Saturday in the second qualifying round having beaten Carshalton Athletic two weeks ago.

Binfield, who play one step beneath Leatherhead in the Hellenic League Premier Division, are unbeaten in all competitions so far this season.

However, being well aware that anything can happen in the cup, Brady has done his homework.

He said: “Everything goes out the window when it comes to the FA Cup, and they [Binfield] will be up for it just as much as us.

“Everyone knows that financially progression is important and we’d like to get as far as possible.

“It’s for the fans as well, we already have 50 signed up for the coach trip, which says a lot.”

He added: “But the key is keeping the league work going.

“I cannot think about the cup too much and take my eye off the main prize, the league.”

Leatherhead’s preparations were dealt a blow last weekend with their first defeat of the season at home to Whitstable Town.

Brady was expecting Jerry Nnamani, pictured, back for last night’s visit of Walton & Hersham, as well as the cup trip to Bracknell to play Binfield.

He said: “We’re never going to win all the games, you’re bound to lose sooner or later.

“It was disappointing, but we did create enough chances to win it, and that happens sometimes.

“Whitstable game looking for a point and they got a late lucky winner.

“The lad hit it from 40 yards and it’s hit a divot and bobbled in, there’s not much we can do about that.”

He added: “Sometimes you have to take it on the chin and admit when your luck is not in.”
