For the second time in a fortnight, Leatherhead surrendered a two goal lead and took only a point from a Ryman Division One South match when three were seemingly in the bag.

Richard Brady's men were 3-1 up against Walton & Hersham at Fetcham Grove last night, but the Swans hit back with late goals to steal a point.

Swans made a lightning start, taking the lead with less than two minutes on the clock.

A ball down the left found an unmarked Samad Kazi, who stroked his shot past goalkeeper Deren Ibrahim from just inside the area.

Leatherhead were left exposed again after 10 minutes - Ben Hammond’s curling cross into the box was not cleared at the first attempt, but there were no red-shirted players on hand to test the hesitant home defence.

Tanners unsettled the visitors with a breakaway move after 29 minutes. Tom Bradbrook got clear at half-way for a one on one against Milan Stojsavljevic, but the Serbian goalkeeper stood firm to turn the ball behind for a corner.

Bradbrook broke the Swans’ offside trap again a minute later with an almost identical move, and this time the Walton keeper came out of his area to block the striker’s shot.

Leatherhead grabbed an equaliser after 33 minutes, with Bradbrook getting on the end of Mohamed Eisa’s goal bound effort to turn the ball past the keeper.

Swans hit back instantly when Will Turl broke clear in the Leatherhead six yard box, firing against the post before sending the rebound inches wide of the target.

Whatever Brady said to his Leatherhead players at half-time must have had the desired effect, as Tanners came out for the second half in a far better frame of mind.

Swans failed to pick up an advancing Kev Terry after 52 minutes and the midfielder stroked the ball past Stojsavljevic to put the home side into the lead.

Leatherhead added a third goal two minutes later. The Swans defence failed to mark Jamie Coyle as the tall centre back headed home Matt Smart’s sweeping corner.

Walton weren’t beaten yet, though and after 67 minutes, Kazi turned his marker down the right with his rasping effort striking the foot of the post.

The Leatherhead defence failed to pick up Turl after 77 minutes and the forward stroked a carefully placed shot past Ibrahim for Walton’s second.

And with Tanners pushing further forward, Swans broke clear again after 82 minutes with Jack Ward’s unchallenged effort finding the net for the equaliser.
