Kingstonian assistant boss Mark Hams believes the weekend defeat at Chatham Town could prompt a change of tactics but has denied talk of a Kingsmeadow crisis.

Ks went down 1-0 to the team that dumped them out of the FA Trophy last month making it back-to-back league defeats for boss Alan Dowson's men.

The result, thanks to Gavin Schulz's solitary second-half strike, sees Kingstonian slip to third in the Ryman League Division One South table after a promising start to the season.

And Hams has revealed the management team may return to the strong arm tactics that brought them success earlier in the campaign to get back on track.

"Nobody hurts as much as us after a defeat like that, but in all honesty we are not in such a bad position," he said.

"At the moment we are being backed by the fans but we know that won't last forever if we don't start winning again.

"The performances aren't that bad. We are creating enough chances and there is no lack of passion or work rate.

"It may just be a case of becoming big, strong and phyiscal again as we were at the start of the season when we were a tough team to play against.

"We've become a bit of a victim of our own success because sides just set up with ten players behind the ball against us.

"We are paid to find a way around that and that is what we will do."

Dowson, whose wife Donna gave birth to baby daughter Jessica Lily on Tuesday, brought in Leatherhead's Jamie Beer and Bromley striker Carl Gibbs last week to bolster the squad following the departures of Scott Corbett and James Rose.

Simon Huckle and Liam Cockerill are in the running for a return this week, but it is up front where Hams believes the side's problems lie.

"Bringing Carl and Jamie in is partly to fill spaces, but also to give some people a kick up the backside," he added.

"We can't afford to have Saheed Sankoh and Bobby Traynor going on a run of games without scoring.

"We've got Danny Summers on the bench, but while he will be excellent for us he is not putting enough pressure on the front two to perform.

"It is a settled and stable side, but we need pressure on all positions on the field to make sure we get the best out of everyone."

Gibbs is likely to make his first start at Croydon Athletic tonight.
