A quintet of Hampton and Richmond players have agreed new contract at the Beveree as new manager Mark Harper being to develop his new squad.

Defender Dean Inman, strikers Charlie Moone and Dave Tarpey, long-serving goalkeeper Matt Lovett and midfielder Nathan Collier have all agreed to sign deals for the coming season.

Harper was appointed last week to replace Alan Devonshire, who left for Braintree Town after eight years with the Beavers, making the step up from assistant coach and has admitted it is time for the club to adapt to the modern world of football.

“I want to build a lasting football legacy with both the playing and management staff that will sustain this club for many years to come,” he said.

“As a club, we recognise the need to adapt and change.

"The board has given us a realistic budget for the forthcoming season and we will work within it.

“I want to find the right balance between spending money on players and investing in coaching and development.

"We need to seek the best value for the club."

His key players signing new deals is an early boost for his plan, which will also include giving players from the club's youth set-up the chance to impress.

"Experience is critical but our future depends on the younger players coming through the academy system," he said.

"We have some exceptional young talent that have been coached in a far more technical and advanced manner.

“Stability, sustainability and sensibility are the key words that will ensure Hampton is the right place for players to progress and for the supporters to enjoy watching their football.

"I am confident that we will have the right blend of management, experienced players and young talent to have a great 2011/12 season.”
