Meeting records tumbled at the 32nd Hercules Wimbledon Young Athletes open meeting at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on Sunday, as athletes took full advantage of almost ideal weather conditions.

A total of seven records were beaten at the six-hour meeting for which more than 700 athletes from all over the country, as well as seven from the Czech Republic club TJ Liaz, Jablonec, turned out.

Hercules Wimbledon's outstanding young sprint prospect Theo Etienne was just pipped in his first-ever 100m race as he clocked 11.20 seconds, the same time as the race winner, in taking runners-up spot.

Etienne, men's U17 bronze medallist at the England indoor championships at Birmingham in February, can be encouraged by his effort as the sprinter who beat him was Tommy Ramdhan from Bexley, the reigning Kent County and Schools U17 100m champions.
