Leatherhead Cricket Club skipper Matt Joblin is not getting carried away, despite his trail-blazing side maintaining their perfect start to the season.

After two games of his side’s first season in Division One of the Surrey Championship, they sit top of the table.

The run continued on Saturday with a seven-wicket win at Dulwich, where an opening stand of 116 from Adam Dyson (47) and Mike Nicol (56) helped knock off the 149-9 set by the hosts after they elected to bat.

Joblin said: “It was pretty even for the first 25 overs, but, after the first drinks break, we dominated them really.

“It was pleasing to see seven wickets spread over five bowlers, which just shows how strong we are.

“Having six or seven bowlers who can bowl at a high level has been the basis of how we’ve achieved so much success over the past few years.

“There have only been two games, so we’re not getting away with ourselves, but I am confident that, if we stick to our game plan, then we can do well.”

Leatherhead face fellow promotion winners Farnham this weekend, and although they are bottom, Joblin is expecting a tough match.

He said: “The table is a little false at the moment and Farnham will be a competitive side.

“We know that from last season, and they have beaten us before.”
