Charlie Edwards was knocked out of the European Amateur Boxing Championships at the first hurdle last night.
The Beddington boxer lost a closely fought contest 3-0 to German Ronny Beblik in the 52kg category in Minsk.
Edwards looked to be ahead after the first two rounds but Beblik's response in the final round was enough for all three judges to give him the win.
He tweeted: "Absolutely gutted. Thought I won and so did everyone else but that boxing for you. Thanks everyone for your support."
Earlsfield ABC boxer Joe Joyce is in to the last 16 of the heavyweight category though after a 2-1 win over Serbian Milutin Stankovic.
Joyce dominated throughout and will now face Georgian Mikheil Bakhtidze in the quarter-finals on Wednesday, where victory will guarantee him at least a bronze medal.
He said: "I won, beat the Serbian Stankovic again.
"Got the first one out of the way. Boxing next against Georgia for a medal."
