Abhishek Jhunjhunwala led Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian to a winning draw with a splendid bat and ball display against derby rivals Purley on Saturday.

Having been put into bat by Purley in the Surrey Championship Division Two game, Trinity were struggled at 35-2 when Stewart Sales joined number three Jhunjhunwala at the crease.

Together, they put on a 145-run partnership with Sales scoring 53 and Jhunjhunwala 133 from 102 balls, as Trinity declared on 272-7 from 48 overs, Purley's Razi Khan taking 5-69.

Jhunjhunwala then took the wickets of Purley's opening batsman but an unbeaten 68 from Savion Lara secured Purley a point as they finished on 197-6 from 52 overs.

Trinity leapfrog Purley into eighth and go to Chessington on Saturday, while Purley travel to Ashford.
