Jade Lally was frustrated with her performance during the women’s discus throw event at British Grand Prix Diamond League meeting in Birmingham on Sunday.

The 26-year-old British number one from Mitcham finished bottom of the world class eight women field, which was headed by Croatia’s London 2012 Olympic champion Sandra Perkovic who comfortably won throwing 64.32m.

Lally opened up with 58.54m, but afterwards things went horribly wrong as she registered four successive no throws.

The former Wimbledon Hercules and Sutton & District representative said: “I’m a bit frustrated at that. I open up well with 58.54 throw.

"Round two was technically closer to where I wanted to be but it was just a miss timing.

“The next four made my series look really awful. The timing is just not quite there, I just need to bit of patience.

“But 58.54 is not a bad throw so I’m not grumbling."

She added: “It was a world class field and on paper I was only ever going to come eighth which really didn’t bother me, it made me focus on myself and do my own thing.”

And Lally, who now represents Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers, is confident she will break the magical 60m barrier this season and qualify for next month’s IAAF World championships in Moscow.
