Hercules Wimbledon AC ended its men's and women's Southern League programmes with some outstanding individual performances, including six new club records.

Marathon-running mum Claire Grima smashed the club's veterans over-35 3,000m record competing in the final Southern Women's League Premier Division match of the season at Horspath Track, Oxford on Saturday.

She finished third in the race in 10 minutes, 23 seconds - her time took 3.1 seconds off her previous best set at Crawley in 2011.

It was the first leg of a busy weekend for Grima who, on Sunday, won the over-35 gold medal in winning her age category in the Surrey 5km road running championship, which was staged in conjunction with Hercules Wimbledon's Perseverance road race at Wimbledon Park on Sunday.

She was cheered on by her two children, Luca and Jasper and husband Dave as she also took the silver medal in the main championship.

However, she was narrowly pipped by her brother-in-law Alex Grima who finished 38th in 18:20.

Former Commonwealth Games representative Alison Murray was a double record-breaker at Guildford, where she set new marks for the senior and veteran over-35 women's categories with a pole vault clearance of 2.60m.

The club's only winner at Oxford was teenager Venice Farr who won the 400m B race in 61.4 seconds, one-and-a-half seconds faster than the A string runner.

Three Hercules Wimbledon club records were set in the Southern Men's league final at Thames Valley Athletics Stadium, Eton, where the club dominated the track events.

Dwayne Cowan smashed one of the oldest club records when he took the 400m in 47.6secs to chop 1.2 seconds off his previous best.

His time erased the 48.1 mark set by international 400m hurdler Robin Woodland in winning the Surrey title at Motspur Park in 1959, and equalled by John Gostelow in 1976, nine years before Cowan was born.

Teenage sprinter Theo Etienne equalled the 36-year club U17 200m record in being pipped to the line with a time of 22.1secs.

Earlier, Etienne won the 100m B race in a personal best of 10.8secs.

His performance ranks him seventh for his age group in the UK this summer.

Max Mondelli won the A race in the same time and they then helped Hercules Wimbledon win the sprint relay.

In only his first serious season in athletics, Sean Hall took more than a second off his previous best as he took the 800m in 1:52.9, and also helped out winning the 400m B race in 50.5.

Esmond Ferns set a veterans over-35 club record in finishing runner-up in the 800m B race in 2:00.3.

Teenager Cassian Hyde won the 1,500m B race in a personal best of 4:09.1 with Fred Slemeck taking second in the A race in 4:06.5.

Matt Sharp and Liam White were third in the 5,000m A and B races, Steve Davies third in the 110m and 400m hurdles A races, Dominic Getting and David Harris third in the pole vault A and B contests and Stuart Milton third in the javelin.
