Hercules Wimbledon AC sprinter Dwayne Cowan broke his second club record in a week on a day when his times just got faster and faster.

He bettered the 27-year-old 200m mark twice while representing Surrey in the UK Inter-Counties track & field championships at Bedford on Sunday.

Cowan, 28, first bettered the mark in finishing second in his heat in 21.15 seconds. He then went even faster in the final where he was sixth in 21.08secs.

His time eclipsed the club record of 21.4 set by Jason Hallifax at Colindale in July 1986.

Cowan himself improved on his previous lifetime best of 21.47 set in the South of England championships at Ashford in June.

His record-breaking 200m run came a week after he broke the 54-year-old club 400m record in winning his race at an open meeting at Norman Park, Bromley, in 47.28secs.

His performances ranked him in the top 30 in both events among UK runners this summer.

Clubmate Matt Sharp took the bronze medal in the Surrey 10,000m track championship at Tooting Bec on Saturday.

He clocked 33 minutes 18.4secs, while Rob Tuer was eighth out of 30 runners in 34:28.37.

Also at Tooting, teenager Chad Miller won his 100m race and Hamed Agboke was second in his 400m race which were staged as part of an open meeting.

Fred Slemeck won his 1,500m race at an open meeting at Watford on Wednesday of last week.

Two Hercules Wimbledon athletes won their events in the Veterans AC championships at Battersea Park on Sunday. 

Mark White took the men's over-45 400m and Martin Miller the over-65 1,500m. Miller was also second in the 800m.

Two of Hercules Wimbledon's Australian-based runners were in action on the road.

Justin Kelly was 16th out oif more than 15,000 runners in the City to Surf 12km road race in Perth in 42:03, while Steve Stockwell was ninth out of more than 4,500 runners in the City to Surf half-marathon in  one hour, 17:21.

This weekend, Hercules Wimbledon's youngsters will be in action Lily B Girls League final at Ewell Court on Saturday, while some of the club's top young sprinters will be in action in the England age group championships at Bedford.
