Croydon Harriers’ men made it two wins out of two at the latest round of the 2XU Surrey cross-country league on Wimbledon Common.
Competing in division two, Croydon packed well with six runners inside the top 25 in a field of 154 competitors.
Peter Chambers followed up his win at Richmond Park last month with a runners-up spot this time round, elevating himself from fifth in the last mile of the race.
The UCL student completed the five-mile course in 26 minutes 59 seconds.
Next home was David White in fourth in 27:18, and he was followed by Oxted School pupil Harvey White (10th, 28:50).
Good packing followed thanks to Ben Savill (29:20, 15th), Alex Penfold (29:33, 21st) and Simon Loughran (29:34, 23rd).
The scoring 10 was completed by the quartet of David Brown (30:43, 40th), Alan Burn (31:39, 51st), David Chambers (32:00, 59th) and Neil Aikman (32:15, 66th).
In the young athlete’s 2.25 mile race, Rob Spalding and Laurence Johnston led the team home in fourth and fifth respectively.
Dane Lawrence (ninth) and Oliver Savill (12th) completed the scoring quartet to ensure the team were runners-up on the day.
Jordan O’Dongo was fifth in the U13s race.
In the pick of the parkrun action, Stevie Lawrence notched her 10th win at Lloyd ParkRun in 21:19.
This weekend sees the young athlete’s squad in action representing the Borough at the London Youth Games at Parliament Hill, while the men and women compete in the London championships at the same venue.
