Epsom-based Kojo Kyereme smashed the course record in winning the weekly Wimbledon Common 5km time trial on Saturday.

The Shafesbury Barnet runner, making his first appearance in the event, took advantage of the relatively dry conditions to race away from the field.

He clocked 15 minutes 24 seconds, finishing more than a minute clear of Hercules Wimbledon's Kieran White (16:31), who was also making his debut in the event.

Balham-based Tom Kings-north was third (16:38), taking 27 seconds off his previous best.

Thames Hare & Hounds' Keith Spacie, who is over 70, produced the best age-graded performance, finishing 28th (20:40).

The previous course best of 15:58 was set by Kevin Quinn of Real Runners in January.

Rachel Elliott, of Team Kennet, was first woman for the second successive week in 19:28, taking 23 seconds off her previous best .

Wimbledon Windmilers vets Denise Harris (20:11) and Lindsay Deans (21:04) were second and third on their first appearances in the event.

l Newcomer John Hutchins from Basingstoke & Mid Hants won the Bushy Park time trial at Hampton Court in 16:02.

Epsom & Ewell's Phil Sanger (16:25) was second with Thames Hare & Hounds' Dave Symons third (16:30).

Stragglers' Louise Watson popped over from her Hampton home to win the women's race (18:16), from former St Mary's University College student Charlotte Dale (18:50).
