Crisis club Hounslow Borough were suspended again last week for non-payment of fines, but the ban was lifted on Tuesday in time for them to play the following night's home Hellenic League game with Wantage at Bedfont.

Manager Dennis Bainborough revealed: "The suspension was imposed by the FA because of our failure to pay a £1,270 fine to the Middlesex FA and £790 in fines to the Hellenic League.

"But our chairman Stefan Poulos came up with the money to pay them this week.

"Nothing shocks me at this club any more - in my three seasons here we have been suspended several times. It's been a nightmare and makes my job so difficult - it's hard to even raise a team every week.

"We were lying second in the table in September, but are now next to bottom because of all the turmoil at the club which has caused players to leave. But I will carry on as manager until the end of the season.

"I am still convinced I can save Hounslow from relegation.

"We have several games in hand because of the suspensions and we can pull clear of the bottom three places, even though we are six points behind third-from-bottom Pegasus."

Asked about claims by Borough's former vice chairman John Davis that the club faces debts of around £40,000, Bainborough replied: "I know nothing about that. As far as I am concerned the club's debts have now been cleared. But I don't know the details of the dispute between Stefan Poulos and John Davis, which led to Davis taking over the running of our old ground and bar at the Conquest Club."

Davis, ousted from office following Poulos' return to the club, has taken over the lease at the Conquest Club at Isleworth and will continue to run the social club there, leaving Borough to find another ground.

Ironically, Borough did not have a fixture last Saturday anyway, but to add to their problems they lost 3-2 to Wantage after leading 2-0 at half-time with two goals from Phil Merritt.

Bainborough lamented: "Lack of fitness told after our inactiviity through recent games being called off.

"We had four goalkeepers ruled out through injury or unavailability, but outfield player Phil Merritt, who was returning from injury after five months, did a great job in goal."

This Saturday Borough are away to Almondsbury Town and on Wednesday March 28 they are at home to Bicester Town.
