Two boys from Claygate-based Foley Boxing Club will fight in this Friday's finals of the Southern Counties Novice Championship at Canterbury University, writes Lee Martin.
Lauren Gavin was a clear winner in his U69kg semi-final with T Brooker of Tunbridge Wells, fought over four two-minute rounds.
Gavin was sharp from the first bell and picked his man off with a superb display of technical boxing and Brooker deserves credit for lasting the distance.
He will fight Aaron Lowery from the host club in Friday's final.
Foley's Steve Ellis stopped A Ruffalo of Horsham in the third round his U64kg semi-final.
From the start of the round, Ellis's power and stamina really started to show, with the Foley boy's stronger punches, including a clubbing left-hook to the head, stunning Ruffalo.
Another straight right saw the fight halted by the doctor with blood being wiped from Ruffalo's nose.
This spurred Ellis on even more and, when he launched a flurry of punches against the ropes with nothing coming back, the referee stopped the fight to the delight of coaches Paul Dawson and Gary Ball in his corner.
It was revenge for Ellis, who had been beaten by Ruffalo on the Horsham boy's own club show a few weeks earlier and earned him a final against Perkins from Cooper Boys.
