Streatham Redskins 13 Haringey Greyhounds 0

A maiden hat-trick for Redskins forward Shane Walsh was the highlight of a 13-0 win against the Haringey Greyhounds.

Streatham had already ended Haringey's season last weekend with a lacklustre 6-1 win, but coach Dean Birrell had called on his side to show their play-off intentions and hand out a real spanking.

His side responded by demolishing their opposition.

Along with his hat-trick, Walsh also picked up an assist, however Jaroslav Pavlus led the points scoring with four goals and two assists.

Joe Johnston chipped in with 2+2, Milan Sotak had 2+1, Steve Paris has 1+2 and Fred Carnegy added a late goal.

Perry Richardson and Joe Reynolds had two assists, while Rupert Quiney, Casimir Britton and Ed Koral had an assist each.

After the game Birrell said: "It is important that we start playing playoff hockey, we have to play every game now.

"Recently we have started to showboat when winning and eased up but that had to stop and we achieved that tonight.

"We took a physical presence to them and we will need to carry that into next week, we know it will be a huge game.

"We had a decent crowd tonight and, hopefully, it will be the same next week to really get behind us."

Goal of the game was scored in the second period when Pavlus took a pass from Reynolds and fired in from the blue line when nothing looked on.

However, Carnegy laid claim to cheeky goal of the season when he netted late on.

With a penalty called against Haringey the visitors netminder was guarding the puck in the hope of a defensive clearance.

But his side reacted slower than Carnegy who nicked in to make it 13-0.

The Redskins dominated throughout and could have had more goals, several last passes going just astray.

The team will go into the final regular season game buoyed by the performance and confident of giving their arch rivals a real game.

Last mention has to go to the first time hat-trick hero, who showed sniper like abilities to convert his three chances.

Walsh switched from playing as defensemen a few years ago and has never registered three in a game even though he has been playing since he was 14.
