Leatherhead & Cobham Cricket Club have received a cheque for £3,000 from the Lord Taverners to fund a new non-turf cricket pitch.
The money, part of £2.5m being donated by the charity to this year to help give young people a sporting chance, is being used on a pitch that needs no preparation, is more resistant to wear and avoids waterlogging.
This reduces the cost of maintenance and allows for more games to be played, which is especially important when developing a youth side.
