Mitcham’s Lee Cannon will be looking to put the disappointment of his previous outing behind him and focus on the task at hand when the welterweight prospect makes his first appearance of 2011 on the undercard of the Queensbury Boxing League's big March 12 promotion showdown at the Epsom Downs Racecourse.

Cannon’s last appearance in the league back in November on the promotions Dynamite show resulted in a disappointing draw against Hasting’s durable Steve Cyster, and although neither man asserted their dominance in the contest Cannon still believes he did enough on the night to take the decision but admits he could have made it an easier nights work if he and stuck to his boxing.

“I felt I won that fight on the night and did enough to take the decision. I didn’t box to my best ability and know if I had stuck to my boxing it would have been an easy night’s work for me. Although I came out with a draw it still felt like a loss to me and a mark on my record, but this time I won’t be making the same mistakes.”

With Cannon setting his sights firmly on a shot at the Queensbury Welterweight title this year, his attention has turned to his next opponent, and he seems fully focused on doing the business on March 12th in front of his travelling fans.

The man looking to derail his title plans and end his unbeaten run will be Tommy Chbra from London.

Chbra fighting out of the Box London gym will be looking to impress on his league debut, but Cannon insists there will be no slip-ups this time around after the last performance.

"I learned a lot from my last fight and this time I am not going to put the decision in the judges hands. I’ve increased my training and I am 100% focused on doing a number on Chbra and putting myself in the mix for the title this year”.

With Cannon in no mood to give any ground and Chbra looking to stake his claim in the Welterweight rankings the fight looks perfectly balanced to produce a cracking encounter.

Also featuring on the Showdown bill Chbra’s stable mate Nigel James from Croydon will be looking to produce another devastating display when he makes his second appearance in the league.

James handed Sutton’s Aaron Bogle his first defeat last time out via an explosive second round knockout, and he will be hoping to display the same clinical finishing when he returns to action.

With show featuring fourteen bouts of action across the evening, the event looks set to produce another memorable evening of Queensbury Boxing. For further information about the event please check out www.queensburyboxing.co.uk or call the ticket hotline on 07547 022 244.
