Matthew Friedlander hit 105 not out from 78 balls as Ashtead and Banstead played out an incredible draw on Saturday.

Chasing Banstead 270-7 from 50 overs, Ashtead looked down and out at 157-7, but Friedlander's 113-run eight-wicket partnership with Josh Pickering (38 not out) saw them also finish on 270-7 from 50 overs, giving both sides five points each.

Banstead recovered from opener Clive Offer's first ball duck thanks to their own 113-run partnership between Thomas Lancefield (53) and Jak Martin (64), who helped them reach the respectable total.

Three wickets for Tristan Caviet had them well on their way to defending their score before Friedlander and Pickering came together to force the draw.

The five points were Ashtead's first of the season and lifts them above pointless Cheam, while Banstead are up to seventh.
