In two days time, two days of horseracing history will play out as the world looks on: Epsom Downs racecourse will host the Investec Derby Festival over Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th June. Her Majesty the Queen owns the favourite for the Investec Derby: Britain’s Biggest Day Out, featuring the World’s Greatest Flat Race and should the horse win, fulfill her dream of winning the Derby.

On Friday, ladies take centre stage on and off the course. While the fillies fight for the prizes on-course in the Investec Oaks and Investec Coronation Cup, the fashion-forward will be put through their paces in the Style on the Downs competition. The judging panel will feature a trio of famous fashionistas, including British supermodel Erin O’Connor, official milliner Louis Mariette and designer Felicity Brown; rewarding the most stylish lady at Investec Ladies Day.

Saturday sees another day of high stakes on and off the course; the highlight being the Investec Derby. The Queen’s horse Carlton House is favourite to win 231st running of the world's greatest flat race, worth £1.25 million in prize money. From ‘tops n tails’ in the Queens Stand, to the free-to-all carnival scene spanning the hill, the day offers an attraction for everyone and a place to see and be seen. The day attracts a crowd of 100,000 from across the world; all hoping to see history being made as the 2011 Investec Derby winner is crowned.

Guest of honour at this year’s Investec Derby Festival will be Walter Swinburn, who famously rode Shergar to victory in the Derby 30 years ago, shortly before the horse was kidnapped and never found. The jockey-turned-trainer will be joined by famous faces from the racing world, including Frankie Dettori, Clare Balding and Willie Carson.

Rupert Trevelyan, Managing Director of Epsom Downs Racecourse commented: “Already the buzz around the racecourse is immense and excitement is in the air. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to Epsom Downs as we let Derby fever take over and potentially witness another Royal celebration. Tickets are still available on the door although the Queen’s Stand has sold out on Ladies Day.”
