Croydon middleweight prospect Joe McDonald is 100 per cent confident of victory in the final Queensbury Boxing League meeting of the year later this month.

The 28-year-old only entered the league in June but has looked impressive, recording back-to-back victories – a run he hopes to continue in the title eliminator against Michael Woolsey at the Effingham Park Hotel in Copthorne on November 26.

Woolsey will provide McDonald with his biggest test but the Croydon fighter is unfazed ahead of the bout having watched his opponent’s previous three round destruction of Redhill’s Ben Stafford.

“I watched Michael’s last fight, which was on the same bill as my last fight, and it was a good performance by him,” he said.

“But, on November 26, I feel I am going to be a much tougher fight for him and I’m really confident of victory.

“I feel relaxed because I know the hard work will be done in the gym prior to the show and I’m going to be prepared for whatever happens.

“In my last two fights, people have seen my boxing ability, but the best is yet to come and if it means going into the trenches to get the victory then I’ll be prepared to do whatever it takes.

“I’m always in the gym training so I’m just looking forward to implementing my game plan and putting all the hard work into practice.”

Should he complete the victory on the undercard of a packed bill of championship boxing, McDonald will set himself up to challenge for the belt in 2012.

Lawrence Lofts, who trains under Wayne Alexander at the Fight Factory in Purley, is on the bill and looking to win the league’s British Middleweight belt when he takes on current holder Lewis Pinto.
