New Addington’s undefeated champion Gareth Gardner has promised fans an explosive performance when he returns to the Queensbury Boxing League ring next month.

The 30-year-old will step back up to middleweight to challenge newly crowned British champion Ruben Giles for the title he vacated last year.

Gardner was last in action in March when he edged out fellow contender Sam Holloway to lift the British title in the light middleweight division, and he insists his showdown with Giles has the potential to eclipse everything that has gone before.

He said: “There is no doubt this is going to be a very exciting fight and the action will be relentless.

“The show’s fans that have watched my fights live and those on Eurosport know I’m an aggressive, come forward style fighter who rarely takes a backward step.

“Giles is very similar so I’m hoping he brings it to me as I’d like to show more of my boxing and work off the back foot a bit more.

“At the end of the day we are both coming into the fight as champions, both undefeated and both wanting to win, so I know this will be another crowd pleaser and one the fans really don’t want to miss.

Gardner will take on Giles in the main event of the Kings Of The Palace promotion on July 12.
