Teenaged motorhead Charlie Robertson has rewritten the history books by becoming the first ever rookie to win the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup title.

The Whyteleafe-based driver sealed the title at Brands Hatch last weekend bagging two third-place podium spots, before signing off in perfect style with a win in the final round.

Robertson’s season of eight victories and 20 podium finishes also means the 17-year-old is the youngest ever series winner.

He said: “Winning the final round was the perfect end to a perfect season, I am over the moon.

“It’s been a long season, we’ve worked very hard and it’s even sweeter as it’s my, and the team’s, first year in the championship. Nobody has ever won this title in their first year, so it really is fantastic.”

The HHC Motorsport driver added: “Wrapping-up the title on Saturday was our target going into the weekend, it wasn’t really our target at the start of the season, though, as we didn’t know what to expect.

“It’s been an amazing year and I’ve got to say a massive thank you to everyone at HHC, they’ve given me an incredible car, and a huge thank you to my fantastic sponsors. It really has been a perfect year for all of us.

“We’re looking to next year now and we’re trying to put something big, and very promising for my career, together. We can’t say anything just yet, but hopefully we can confirm what we’ll be doing next soon.”
