Fighting fisherman Warren Fenn faces a “sink-or-swim” title fight next month.

The 27-year-old from Mitcham challenges Nicky Jenman (11-8-1) over eight rounds for the British Masters bronze light-middleweight title at the Camden Centre on Saturday.

For Fenn (6-1-1), it is the first he will have fought over the distance.

He said: “Nicky’s a good fighter, but at this stage of my career I have to step up and go for titles.

“I’m looking to prove myself in hard fights.

“I’m either going to sink or swim.”

He added: “I’m looking at this fight as a stepping stone. If I win, I won’t be far away from a shot at the southern area title.

“I’m ready to take the next step in my career. Everyone in the gym tells me I have the skills, so it’s down to me to step up and grab the bull by the horns.”

Fenn has been out of the ring since he fought out a four-round draw with Gareth Piper at the Camden Centre last July.

Fenn says after winning the belt, he will turn his attentions to capturing Nina, the carp he has been chasing since the start of the year.

He said: “It takes a lot of work to catch a carp like Nina.

“You have to set the right trap in the right area at the right time. It’s a very tactical game. I will step up my attempts to catch Nina after the fight.”
