Kingston & Polytechnic Harrier was in record breaking form at the Surrey Athletics Championships on Saturday.

The 14-year-old claimed 75m hurdles gold in 11.13 seconds to set a new championship best in the event for the first time since 1977, On the same day, she broke the U15 girls long jump championship record of 5.61 metres – set in 1976 – with a new mark of 5.73m.

The Notre Dame School student’s efforts mean she is ranked number one in the UK in both events and she added a U15 girls’ 100m bronze medal to her collection for good measure on Sunday.

Kingston’s athletes were in golden form at Kingsmeadow throughout the weekend as senior women’s team captain Pippa Wingate claimed the senior shot and hammer titles with throws of 12.40m and 55.08m, respectively.

Men’s throws specialist Chris Dack eased to gold medals in the discus (42.92m) and shot (15.09m), while Gordon Lester won the senior men’s pole vault with a vault of 3.85m and William Gwynne did the same in the U20 men’s pole vault thanks to an effort of 3.65m.

Alex Meaklim won U17 boys’ triple jump gold (12.61m) and long jump silver (5.93m), while Rhianna Reynolds claimed the U17 girls’ triple jump (10.87m) and high jump (1.54m) titles.

Nicole Kendall streaked home to the U20 women’s 400m gold in a time of 56.36 secs, while Chris Hall sprinted to the men’s 110m hurdles crown in a time of 15.60 secs, before jumping 6.66m for long jump silver.
