Carshalton boxer Ricky Boylan is not considering defeat when he gets back in the ring tonight, because he knows the implications.

The 26-year-old former Southern Area champion (12-2-0) takes on Daza Usher (9-4-0) at York Hall looking to bounce back from successive defeats.

After his last defeat, to Tommy Martin in January, Boylan admitted to making mistakes in his weight management after the weigh-in, leaving him feeling sluggish in the fight.

Boylan is also keen to prove his critics wrong and has been training in Manchester for the past six weeks to ensure he does just that.

He said: “I am looking forward to getting back out there and putting right all the wrongs from my last fight.

“I have learnt so much but have just not been able to reproduce it in the ring, and I want to show people that I am a better fighter than they think.

“I still have lots to learn, but I have been working on staying more relaxed and subtle, and hopefully I’ll be able to show that.”

He added: “Defeat is not an option. It would be very hard to come back from that it that were to happen.”
