Coach Phil Mamode was a proud man last weekend after presiding over the first ever Warlingham Wildcats Girls U18s competitive fixture.

The side stepped to fulfil a friendly fixture against Sutton & Epsom U18s, after the original opponents withdrew.

Despite the discrepancy in experience, Warlingham ran in five tries – although were still on the wrong end of a 47-25 scoreline.

Mamode said: "I could not be more proud of the commitment shown by the ladies.

“They have shown great enthusiasm towards improving themselves as rugby players, borne out by their dedication to attending Wednesday and Sunday training regardless of the weather.”

Getting on the scoresheet on the momentous day were Jasmine Copp, who bagged four tries, and Jahrusalem Simmons.

Meanwhile, Warlingham RFC will be holding the inaugural Girls Sevens Festival, which is open to U13, U15 and U18s girls, on April 24.
