Kira Munns-Charlton enhanced her growing reputation by medaling three times at the English Karate Championships last weekend.

Epsom’s very own karate kid came back with two gold medals and one silver in the individual, pairs and the team championships events.

And the 14-year-old Blenheim High School student is now targeting a place in next year’s European Championships in Turkey.

“The medals make me feel all the work, effort and support is really beginning to pay off,” she said.

“I’m hoping this will continue until October where I am competing for the coveted individual place to go to the European Championships in Turkey in February.

“During this time I will be training very hard and trying to raise money to be able to attend the tournament – where I am hoping to have the best chance as possible to medal.”
