Park's promotion impetus gets bogged down water-logged pitches and snow drifts

Rosslyn Park coach Jan Bonney is a frustrated man after back-to-back postponements derailed the club’s promotion momentum.
Park’s last outing in National League One was the 104-5 mauling of Cambridge on January 12, but since then the bad weather has accounted for games at Coventry and Loughborough Students.
The hiatus has allowed Esher, who beat second-placed Blaydon last weekend, to leap-frog Park into third spot.
With only one team going up, and Park languishing 12 points off the top with nine games left, Bonney is aiming to remain unbeaten for the rest of the season and hope other results go their way.
“I cannot deny these postponements have been very frustrating,” Bonney said.
“Twice we’ve prepared for games and twice they’ve been called off. We’re itching to play. We had training on Saturday to give the players a chance to have a blow out, but it is not the same as playing.
He added: “It’s a shame because any momentum we had from beating Cambridge has gone, and it needs rebuilding.
“Now we’re going straight into a game against Macclesfield – they may be at the bottom, but they beat Cinderford last weekend.”
Bonney welcomes back Sam Katz from England Students duty – the fly half featured in a 25-20 win over Portugal, scoring 20 points, on Saturday – and former Barking second rower Daniel Lloyd Jones from suspension.
Despite their return, the former Saracens coach already knew what his side has do to secure promotion.
“We want to get as many bonus point wins as possible. We are in the mix and while the postponements are disappointing, we have a game in hand and we are confident.
“If we keep the pressure on the teams around us, then they are bound to get twitchy at some point and we need to be there to take advantage.”
Park host Macclesfield this weekend, while the rearranged games see Park travel to Coventry on February 9, and Loughborough Students on March 16.
