Jeff Parsons is dismissing talk of winning London Two South West despite being involved in a thrilling three-way tussle for promotion.

Sutton & Epsom go into this weekend’s penultimate round of fixtures three points behind leaders Chobham and one ahead of Guildford.

With their rivals playing each other the following weekend, wins against Old Reigation and Effingham & Leatherhead could give Sutton the title if Chobham slip up against Guildford.

But Parsons is worried more about making sure they do not get caught by Guildford and that they secure second place, and a promotion play-off with the runners-up of London Two South East – likely to be Charlton Park or Crowborough.

“It is in our hands now,” he said.

“If we win our next two games with bonus points we are guaranteed to go into at least the play-offs.

“There is no need to worry about Chobham and Guildford.

“We are in good form but just running out of time to get top unfortunately.

“There is a chance Chobham could slip up against Guildford but all we have to do is make sure we get bonus point wins this Saturday and the week after and stay second and sit in the play-offs.

“We really cannot slip up at all, it is very tight and makes the last two weeks of the season very interesting.”

Sutton go into the final two games in fantastic form having won their last five matches, and scoring 105 points in their last two victories over London Cornish and Teddington.

“In the bad conditions against Cornish that was a very pleasing win,” added Parsons.

“We were doing really well at the beginning of the season when we played on the hard ground but we had been struggling in the wet conditions, so that win was great.

“We set out for bonus point wins in the last two games and managed to get them, we played a really expansive style of rugby and it worked for us.”
