Rosslyn Park lock Richard Boyle believes his side need to show more discipline if they are to have any chance of gaining promotion from National League One.

Captain Hugo Ellis helped himself to a hat-trick of tries as Park ran in six scores to comfortably see off the threat of Worthing 44-0 on Saturday, the Raiders struggling to deal with Rosslyn Park’s scrum and the windy conditions.

However the gloss was taking off the result somewhat by an off-the-ball altercation that saw referee Fergus Kirby sent two players from each side to the sin bin in the 68th minute – Aaron Liffchack and William Bowley the Rosslyn Park players penalised.

Park are currently lying in second place, seven points off leaders Doncaster Knights, but Boyle admits his team not to address their discipline issues if they have any hopes of reaching the summit.

He said: “Four people going into the sin bin was a game changer but our team just seemed to take no prisoners and took all the chances we were given.

“I want us to try and keep our discipline under control and make sure we keep our errors down to a minimum to give ourselves the best chance of getting a result.

“Obviously you have got to be pretty pleased with getting 44 points on the board and to not concede is something that you always want to do.

“Playing against the wind was really tough and the game seemed to be effected so much, we played well but the wind definitely contributed the performances of both teams.

“In every game that we have lost this season we have improved our performance the next game and this was just another example of how we come back fighting.

“The loss last week was obviously a blow to our promotion hopes but we showed here that we constantly come back as a stronger team and the score line will vouch for that.”

Rosslyn Park have recently struggled to get a run of wins going, losing their last match to Blackheath, but with being in touching distance of promotion a run could get them up.

Park’s scrum dominated the game against Worthing, setting up almost all of their tries, and Boyle insists that could be the driving force to push Doncaster off the top of the table.

“We have had a dominate scrum throughout the season and this game was no different, we were delighted with our scrum,” he added.

“Our front row was top class and we had players like Henry Staff making breaks from deep the players in their team just couldn’t deal with that.

“We kept building good opportunities from our scrums and when we started getting the scrum into a good flow we just continued to push them back.

“This was one of my best games we have had this season and obviously you have to be pleased with getting 44 points on the board.”
