Former ACT Brumbies back Matt Hawke has impressed enough to land a contract at London Scottish until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old joined Scottish on trial in November, making his debut in the British & Irish Cup victory over Connacht Eagles.

And the Canberra-born ace, a feature of the Brumbies set-up since he was a teenager, has been an ever-present in the London Scottish starting XV ever since.

"I am really pleased to have signed," Hawke said.

"Both the players, coaches and backroom team have welcomed me into the group and that has helped me settle quickly into life in London.

"I feel I'm already adapting well to Championship rugby and hopefully I can play an important role in keeping Scottish in the top four."

Scottish director of rugby Mike Friday said: "Matt has been a great addition.

"He arrived here on trial in November and straight away got his head down and started to work hard to earn himself an opportunity.

"Matt has a strong character, work ethic and enthusiasm which he transfers both to the training paddock as well as to the field of play."

Backs coach Peter Richards added: "Matt's application and professionalism has been excellent and it's obvious he has come from what is a really impressive ACT Brumbies set-up.

"As you would expect from an Australian, his all-round skill-set is exceptional and I look forward to seeing him develop over the coming months."
