Five crisply taken tries by Warlingham secured the win and another bonus point as they beat Deal & Betteshanger 29-15 to move up to second in London Two South East.

They were made to work for the victory though with Deal showing considerable resilience and they had the better of the second half, an area where hitherto Warlingham's fitness had excelled.

After the game, Warlingham's head coach, Tom Street said: "We started really well and took control of the game but went off the boil a bit in the third quarter.

"It was nevertheless good to finish strongly and get the bonus point."

Playing with a bitter north wind at their backs Warlingham went into an early lead when a booming kick by outside half Miles Waud was fumbled by the Deal full back and, when Warlingham regathered the ball, Waud slipped through for an unconverted try.

Kozminski missed the conversion and then a difficult penalty but quickly recycled ball was shifted along the back line to hooker Dan Street making the extra man. Street needed no encouraging as he steamrollered over for try number two.

Warlingham's strong defence was exemplified when giant lock Nick Ray smothered a Deal attacker, recycled the ball giving Waud the opportunity to break through the defence and feed winger Osborne.

The Warlingham speedster did what he does best - he accelerated onto the ball and split the visitors' defence to score under the posts.

Kozminski added the conversion and Warlingham were well and truly in the driving seat.

After a Deal penalty, centre Ben Wimble then came onto centre stage with an outside break and when the ball got to full back Alex Skinner he added the fourth, bonus point try.

Kozminski converted from the tramlines and brought the curtain down on the first half.

Deal turned round full of determination and were rewarded with two well taken tries when Warlingham kicked poorly out of defence and the game looked to be slipping from the hosts' grasp.

Warlingham tried to force the game too much and, with dropped passes and snatched opportunities, they became somewhat frustrated in the final quarter.

However, the game was sealed when Osborne broke, passed to Wimble who kicked cleverly putting the visitors' full back under pressure.

The Warlingham pack, especially lock Luke Delderfield and loose forward Zac King, were prominent and, when Skinner gathered the ball in space he took his second, and Warlingham's fifth, try with aplomb.
