Rosslyn Park’s fringe players could be given the chance to impress over the next fortnight with the club’s dual registration stars expected to be in action elsewhere.

Miles Mantella and Joe Trayfoot are likely to be recalled by Harlequins for their LV= Cup matches this Saturday and the following Friday, while Nathan Morris and Will Robinson could be required by Wasps.

With Ed Lewis-Pratt also struggling with injury, head coach Jan Bonney is to give the nod to players yet to have much game time this year when they travel to second-placed Macclesfield on Saturday.

“It is something we knew would happen and we have good strength in depth and now it is time for those players to step up,” he said.

“We still have players like Dom Shabbo, Steve Parsons, John Rudd and Nev Edwards and there are players in the second team that are pushing to be involved as well.”

Park had to rely on fly-half Ross Laidlaw to secure them a 22-17 victory on Saturday as he kicked two late penalties to overhaul Cinderford.

His personal tally of 17 points was added to by Mantella’s fourth try in as many games.

“I am really pleased we won but in terms of our performance we are still not where I would like us to be,” added Bonney.

“We made it hard for ourselves and it could have been a bit more comfortable. We are still giving away some silly penalties and made some silly mistakes.

“But it is a difficult league and to win and to win at home is great.

“Ross is playing well at the moment but we just need to make sure we can keep him fresh.

“At some stage he might not be with us for whatever reason and we need to be ready for that.

“Miles is scoring tries and playing well but again he is a young player who is still learning and improving.”
