The Rosslyn Park steam train ploughed through Fylde on Saturday and left head coach Jan Bonney marvelling.

Park moved up to third in National One with their sixth win in their last seven matches, coming out 16-10 victors against their second-placed Lancashire rivals, who are managed by former England boss Brian Ashton.

Sedgley Park, who scored 43 points in their win over Stourbridge on Saturday, are the next team to try and halt the Park bandwagon when they visit Priory Lane this weekend but if Park can keep up their current level of performance, it is hard to see them being stopped.

"Saturday was a good day and it was a very good bus journey back," said Bonney.

"Fylde have a very good attack and defended incredibly well - there was one little slip up when we missed a tackle and they scored a try but other than that we defended brilliantly.

"I said to the guys in the office that while we spoke to the guys at half time, after that I didn't have to say too much.

"The boys on the pitch and the lads on the bench were so into the game we could let them get on with it.

"There wasn't much I could say to help them get better and that was really pleasing - we executed our game plan really well.

"We would have liked to score more tries and not concede one but to keep them to 10 points when they have been averaging more than 30 a game is fantastic.

"Hopefully, it will kick start the boys to pick up our home form and it is about keeping momentum up now.

"Sedgley Park had a big win and it is going to be tough and we need to keep doing what we are doing.

"I am not looking beyond Saturday."

In-form John Rudd scored Park's try, his third in as many matches, while Ross Laidlaw scored 11 points, moving him up to fifth in the league's kicking standings.

"It's taken John time to find his feet after injury at the start of the season," added Bonney.

"But he is an excellent guy and, when on form, he is a real handful and having that experience in the side has been great.

"Now he is scoring tries as well it is super - the guys are working hard for each other."
