Team GB international James Tindall struck a hat-trick at Canterbury to send Surbiton into the Men’s Hockey League Premier Division top four on Sunday.

Tindall took his season’s open play goal tally to 10 to give his side a 3-0 half-time lead and they held on for a 3-2 win.

The Sugden Road outfit, who go to third-placed Cannock this Sunday, are only ahead of fifth-placed Reading on goal difference.

Surbiton Ladies’ hopes of making the Women’s Hockey League Premier Division play-offs are in the balance.

Skipper Sarah Haycroft’s team beat Sutton Coldfield 4-2 on Saturday, but lost 2-1 at Bowdon Hightown on Sunday.

The results leave Surbiton defending fourth place in the table with only a three-point cushion over Bowdon and clashes with top two Leicester and Canterbury to come.
