Connor Braid is hoping to add to the three tries that he has already scored in just two appearances for London Scottish when they host in-form Bristol Rugby on Saturday, writes Oli Shapley.

The Canadian international is on loan from Glasgow Warriors and admits that after his try secured a losing bonus point in Pontypridd during round one of the B&I Cup - Scottish need a win to improve their chances of progressing in the competition.

However, Andy Robinson's Bristol side are unbeaten this season having won all six league and cup matches including an impressive 50-34 home win over Connacht last time out.

The Scots haven't beaten Bristol in their last seven attempts, but Braid is keen to turn that statistic on its head at the Athletic Ground this weekend.

He said: “Bristol are top of the Championship so it’s going to be a hard game, but we are at home so we want a win and put on a good performance for the Scottish fans.

“Last weekend a lot of young boys stepped up and they will be needed again, it was a huge crowd down in Wales and a really tough place to play so there were plenty of positives to take from the Ponty game, despite defeat."

On his fine start to the month-long loan spell, Braid, who starts alongside PG Gidlow in midfield this weekend, said: “I’ve settled in really well, I’m living with four of the boys so that has helped.

"With the tries I’ve just been in the right place at the right time but it’s obviously nice to get over the line.”

Meanwhile, London Scottish trio Mark Bright, James Phillips and Miles Mantella have been included in the Championship XV squad to play Canada at Sixways Stadium on November 2.
