Harlequins flanker Chris Robshaw may no longer be skipper at the Stoop, but he put in a display worthy of any captain as his side beat Wasps 26-23 on Saturday.
Robshaw scored his side's first try, before a penalty try and a Danny Care drop goal ensured they battled back from 13-9 down at the break to banish the memory of last week's 39-0 mauling at the hands of Saracens with a narrow victory.
A try from former Richmond flanker Guy Thompson and two Andy Goode penalties had put Wasps ahead at half-time, but Quins hit back in style and late tries from Tom Varndell and Thomas Young could not spoil the party.
"Mentally and physically that was the reaction we wanted - it would be robotic not to have tension and nervousness after last week," said director of rugby Conor O'Shea.
"It was far from perfect, but I didn't expect perfection. This game was about our players fronting up and showing what it meant to them.
"We had rabid intensity at the start of the second half which was all-consuming.
"This team showed it likes a fight and we were spoiling for one after last week."
