London Welsh might be searching for a solution to their woeful start to the Premiership season, but the answers they are looking for could be closer to home.
While head coach Justin Burnell was watching his professionals being thumped 52-0 by Harlequins, the club’s amateurs were securing a 35-15 RFU Junior Vase triumph over Old Walcountians at Old Deer Park.
The exiles are unbeaten so far this season having conceded just 35 points in winning their opening three Middlesex Division One encounters before the weekend’s cup triumph.
By contrast, Burnell’s men have leaked 249 points in losing their opening five top flight matches.
Welsh host fellow strugglers Newcastle Falcons in Oxford tomorrow, while their amateurs entertain Verulamians.
