Has there been an announcement at St Helier Hospital I have missed?
Sign-posting and information charts placed around the hospital, including Ferguson House and inside the front gates show a plan of the hospital with departments listed alphabetically – headed by accident and emergency (A&E).
In the past four to five weeks the charts have been changed to: New Urgent Care in blue; Emergencies (A&E) in red.
Also a large banner directing patients to the A&E has been taken down.
Are these changes part of a strategy to close A&E completely, downgrading St Helier and subsequently closing our hospital altogether.
New signposting and information charts had already been prepared and installed avoiding protest from the public.
It is now even more important that we do all we can to fight for St Helier.
