As always, any defence of Tom Brake and his record on St Helier Hospital will always raise a smile from those aware of the many contradictions between his local image and the actual role he plays in Parliament.

Liberal Democrats will soon emerge from the darkness stumbling blindly toward your doorstep looking for your approval, wanting to promote the image of Brake as a champion of the poor and friend of the local community.

It is time to shine a light on his record and let it penetrate the dark areas of his voting record, one that displays his true purpose and the values that he actually holds, after all you are judged by the company you keep, Tom.

On the doorstep, ask why Tom has voted with the Conservatives to reform the NHS – legislation that puts St Helier Hospital in danger – and what exactly is he doing with his never-ending petition. Will it ever get handed over?

Did anyone see Mr Brake stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the nurses when they protested last year? Hundreds of cars tooting their support and wellwishers offering encouragement, or did he stay in the shadows away from the hospital he wants you to believe he loves so dearly.

Ask why he and his party voted with the Conservatives to keep the bedroom tax and why did he support legislation that restricts access to MPs from local campaign groups and trade unions wanting to lobby on behalf of members and concerned communities.

The landscape has changed so much in the past five years and you will have the opportunity to vote with your heart for the party that shares your values, tactical voting is not an option for the brave and courageous, do not be lectured by Tom Brake on who can win.

Would you have voted for Brake in 2010 if you knew his true intentions, values and beliefs?
